What to do?

What do you do when you're stuck in one place, living above 'tenants' that make you miserable?

The catch is, they're the landlord's family and are taking advantage of her, and she doesn't want to see it, let alone manage the issue, and it's hurting everyone.. No apartments that allow pets are available within our price range. And I am unable to pick up another job.

How do you deal with such a situation?

And how do you keep your composure when things get ridiculously stupid?

Hi Raivyn,

You haven't given us an example of what the neighbors from hell are doing so it's difficult to say what we'd do in a similar situation. I'd only worry about what the tenants are doing that make MY living space uncomfortable. What they do to the landlord is up to them.

Every situation can be handled, so don't despair and worry about pets or jobs just yet.

Most importantly you can choose not to be upset by what they do. Anything else gives them power over you.

As a renter you have a right to peaceful accomodation; you're paying for it. Have you recorded the things that annoy you so much?

Thass a tough one - Neighbours can be a Nightmare from Hell - so much so often it's better to Move + spare yerself the Grief*

Take yer Time + hopefully something Miraculous will appear on the Radar*

Thanks guys.

I have listed all the problems and sent my landlord a polite email about it, but she gave me a "this is my family and property, and if you don't like it, go live on the street" attitude. It's quite the mess.. no one seems to want to understand and try to work it out.

I don't sleep because of these people, they've ruined almost $200 in material possessions over the past year, AND they top it off by not cleaning up the dog crap in the yard.. let alone all the junk piled up everywhere.. I'm honestly embarrassed to say I live there.

Just waiting for a better apartment to open up.. but who knows when that'll happen.

I've had the bad neighbours problem myself in the past and, unfortunately couldn't keep my composure.

As it's the landlords family in question, the situation seems pretty hopeless; I can only hope and pray that you'll be able to find another place that's both affordable and allows pets.

Being from the UK, I have no idea of any legal tenants rights that prevail your side of the big pond.

Just wanted to express my solidarity with you in your current predicament.
